Why I'm Using Pixels Instead of Surveys

Spent this week getting the pixel tracking sorted before the site goes live, and it's made me think a bit more carefully about how I'm actually testing this thing. Originally I'd assumed I'd do a usability study get people in, give them tasks, ask them questions after. But that's not really the plan anymore. Instead I'm tracking how people naturally move through the site: where they land, where they leave, how long they sit on each page, what path they take. No tasks, no res

Getting Ready to Launch

Starting the Paper

Switched gears to the writing side this week. Trevor's main advice last time was don't leave the paper till the end build it up bit by bit as the work happens instead of one big panic in August. So I started the paper skeleton just laid out all the sections (Abstract, Intro, Related Work, Methodology, Design, Study, Findings, Conclusion) with a line under each on what goes there. Going with the ACM DIS format since it's an actual design conference and fits my topic better.

Week 1 — Starting the MSc Project: Where This All Began

THE RAW THEORY So, semester 3 is here and this is where everything we've been building toward actually comes together. This blog is going to document the full journey of my Master's project week by week the progress, the decisions, the dead ends, and hopefully the outcomes. My project is called "Bridging the Experience Gap: Translating In-Store Retail Experiences into Online Environments" and it sits at the intersection of UX, Service Design, and cosmetic retail. The basic p
